Hotel Uyah Amed & Spa Resort cooperates with Amed Dive Center and offers Snorkeling, Scuba Diving & Dive Courses (PADI & SSI) at fantastic dive & snorkel sites
We go diving & snorkeling every day if weather and sea conditions allow. We usually start at about 8:30 in the morning from Amed Dive Center with our dive boat and approach 2 dive/snorkeling sites in the morning and return to Amed Dive Center around noon. We go again at around 14:00 hrs (2 p.m.) for a third dive/snorkeling. We approach Tulamben and Amed dive & snorkeling sites and visit the Liberty shipwreck in Tulamben frequently. There are many excellent dive/snorkel sites in our area! Moreover we have some very good spots for underwater photography. Just come to Amed Dive Center and you can join!

Open Water Dive course:
If you want to experience the wonders of the Marine world this globally-recognized certification program is the best way to begin your life-long adventure as a certified scuba diver. To participate in an Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
The PADI and SSI open water dive courses are practically same and both are internationally recognized.
The Open water dive course consists of:
- theory to understand basic principles of scuba diving
- 1 dive in the pool (confined water) to learn the basic techniques
- 4 dives in open water (the sea) to practice diving techniques and explore
and takes usually 3,5 days. The maximum training depth is 18 meters / 60 feet (age 15+). For participants below the age of 15 the maximum training depth is 12 meters / 40 feet.

Since Amed Dive Center is a registered SSI dive center (No 741052) we can offer you free online training for the first 3 chapters theory on line with SSI. Simply go SSI online training and select the free course for scuba diver. Please register with Amed Dive Center in Amed, Bali. You can then in Amed complete the remaining chapters for the SSI Open Water certificate in Amed and do all the practical exercises required and reduce the time to 3 days.
Note: We always recommend to reserve 4 days for the Open Water Dive Course because the progress depends on the students and people are different. Some are quick to learn the theory but slow to learn the practical skills or the other way around. However, it should be possible to complete the course in 3 days if you have learned the first 3 chapters theory online prior to arrival and required skills are mastered smoothly during the course.
Scuba Diver course:
The Scuba Diver course is for people who do not have the time to complete the Open Water Diver program, and provides you with the training and experience required to dive in open water environments under the supervision of a dive professional. The Scuba Diver course does not enable you to plan your dives properly and do independent diving. You will need professional assistance for diving. Scuba Diver certification can be upgraded to the Open Water Diver certification with additional training.
The PADI and SSI scuba diver courses are practically same and both are internationally recognized.

- theory (only the first 3 chapters) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
- 1 dive in the pool (confined water) to learn the basic techniques

SSI Advanced Open Water Diver
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver is the next recognition rating on the path to becoming an SSI Master Diver.
To become an SSI Advanced Open water diver:
– you need to have an Open Water dive certificate
– complete at least 4 SSI specialty dive courses (any 4 will do)
– you have to have at least 24 logged dives

SSI Advanced Adventurer
The SSI Advanced Adventurer diver course allows you to experience five different open water dives from five SSI Specialty programs without requiring you to complete the entire Specialty. If you are unsure of your next step, this is the perfect way to advance your dive skills and experience, and to identify which Specialty programs interest you. You will earn the SSI Advanced Adventurer certification after completing this program.
Attention: The Advanced Adventurer certification is not counted towards the AOWD Recognition. To achieve one or more specialty certification(s) for the AOWD, you may decide to complete one or more of these specialties. Your dives from the Advanced Adventurer course will of course be counted.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
This course can be taken after completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to advance your diving, so you can start right after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification. The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
