Rice-fields Trekking Trip
You should plan this approx. 2 hour rice-fields trekking trip for the morning hours because the temperature is still quite convenient at this time of the day. You will start your trip at BATUR INDAH, a small home-stay above the Tirtagangga water palace with an incredible view.
First we climb a little hill from which you have a perfect view over the rice- fields of the area. We continue our walk through the rice fields where we can see the rice plant in all the different stages of the growing process at any time due to the tropical climate in Bali. Gede, our guide will explain the process from preparation of the field and planting the seeds until harvesting. During your trip you can enjoy the view of Mt. Agung, Bali’s highest mountain with an altitude of 3142 meters. Mt. Agung erupted in 1963 and spilled ash and lava to the surrounding area. Today the ash serves as a perfect fertilizer for the rice fields.
The irrigation system, that ensures sufficient watering during the entire year, will be explained and you will get a better understanding of the hard work that the Balinese people have to perform in the rice fields. This trip is highly recommended for all people that love NATURE and want to get an inside view of the main pillar of Bali’s agriculture.
